It may not even be until you hand your book over to beta readers that you realise the true themes and messages of your book. After all, readers often find themes and associations that the writer never intended and was unaware of. Because we all approach books from our own, unique, point of view. Books speak to us all in different ways. As Edmund Wilson stated; “No two persons ever read the same book.”

METAPHOR AND SOCIAL COMMENTARY

I talked a little in the previous chapter about your book’s themes, and the message it portrays to readers. Post-apocalyptic and dystopian books often stand as a strong message to humanity. They are depicting an undesirable, unfair, even deadly future for mankind, and, by their very nature, become something of a warning.
